Julia Marino is the first athlete to represent Paraguay in the Winter Olympics. Born in a small village in Paraguay, Julia was adopted at a young age and grew up in New England. A skier as well as soccer and lacrosse player in high school, she attended college at the University of Colorado and on November 6, 2013 learned that she would become Paraguay’s first Winter Olympian. In Sochi in 2014, she entered the Opening Ceremonies as her nation’s flag bearer.
